5% Our true selves unmasked
5% is an in-depth design research project examining the thinking of young adults by posing and dissecting the question every-up-and-coming young professional is asked, "Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?"

Tell me a little about yourself...
Let’s be real, does anyone really have life figured out? Full of highs and lows, the elaborate twists and turns make it seem more and more like a never-ending roller coaster. We strive for the ladder to success, yet our lives are more than just an average nine-to-five cubicle. It is a bridge that connects us with other people, experiences that mark our own journeys, and memories that are ultimately more valuable than consumerist delights. So yes, life is complex; and, no, it is not easy. But as we all yearn for more, impulsed by our passions, driven by determination, and striving for greatness, it can be a daunting task when the lights go off. The room clears, and in the end, we find ourselves in front of a mirror, curious, yet vulnerable, and ask the ultimate question of, “Who am I?”

Through art and design, we have the power to create and empower others. There is so much more about you than one interview. 5% is an opportunity and a platform for you to tell your story. Being in the workforce is not for a day or two, it is a long term commitment to yourself and others. People want to be able to relate to you. Beyond that, it’s not just about work. It’s not just about school. It’s about you as an individual. Simply by virtue of being individuals, we are all so complex and unique; and that is something worth noticing. What’s your 5%?
